Main Functions

Multi‑port Serial Communication Gateway It is a dedicated serial input‑output module for NetCon turbine control rack. It provides multiple configurable serial channels including RS‑232, RS‑422, RS‑485 physical interfaces. It establishes bidirectional data links between the Woodward main CPU module and external automation devices, engineering tools and third‑party host systems.
Multi‑protocol Data Transmission Supports Modbus RTU / ASCII and Woodward proprietary communication protocols. Transmits real‑time turbine operating parameters, speed, load, temperature, alarm events and fault logs; receives configuration parameters and operation commands from upper‑level DCS, HMI or engineering workstation.More products: www.plcva.com
Backplane Bus Data Interaction Installed inside NetCon chassis, communicates with main processor module via proprietary backplane bus. Routes real‑time process data between controller core and external serial peripherals. Powered by rack backplane without extra external power supply.
Electrical Isolation & Noise Suppression Provides galvanic isolation for serial communication ports. Blocks surge interference and ground‑loop noise coming from field‑side serial cables, protects turbine control system internal circuits.
Hardware Self‑diagnosis & Status Indication Front‑panel LED indicators display module running status, port link status and communication faults. Detects hardware failure, bus error and communication timeout, reports diagnostic information to the main controller for on‑site maintenance troubleshooting.

Note: 5501‑474 is EOL (End‑of‑Life) legacy spare module. It cannot work independently, must cooperate with NetCon CPU and power supply inside the turbine control chassis. Original mass‑production discontinued, only used as aftermarket replacement spare part.
