Main Functions

1. Precise Rotational Speed & Acceleration Monitoring Accepts input signals from active or passive MPU (Magnetic Pick‑Up) speed sensors. Measures rotor speed within range 0.5‑32 000 rpm, detects overspeed and excessive over‑acceleration conditions for rotating prime‑movers.
2. Triple‑Modular Redundant (TMR) Safety Logic with 2‑out‑of‑3 Voting Three independent processing modules (A/B/C). Supports 2‑out‑of‑3 voted trip relay outputs or three independent non‑voted trip relays. Total trip response time ≤ 12 ms. Bumpless safety action; prevents false tripping caused by single‑module fault.
3. Safety Trip Execution Output hard‑wired trip relay signals to turbine trip valves, quick‑trip blocks or emergency shutdown systems. Triggers rapid machine shutdown once overspeed / over‑acceleration threshold is exceeded to avoid catastrophic turbine mechanical failure.
4. Online Test & Hot‑swap Maintenance Supports manual / automatic periodic overspeed testing without unit shutdown. Defective individual module can be hot‑swapped while the equipment remains online; no need to stop the protected turbine set.
5. Condition Monitoring & Analog Output Provides 4‑20 mA analog speed readout signals for DCS / SCADA display. Independent alarm relays report faults including sensor failure, power‑supply abnormality and module internal errors.
6. Event Logging & Diagnostic Recording Time‑stamped storage for trip events, alarms and test records. Stores fault history for post‑incident analysis and troubleshooting via local front‑panel display or configuration softwareco.
7. Redundant Power‑supply Support Dual power‑input design, supports mixed high‑voltage AC/DC and low‑voltage DC power sources. System keeps running when one power source fails, enhances power‑supply resilience.
8. Digital Communication & Configuration Triple‑redundant Modbus RTU (RS‑485) interfaces; optional Ethernet gateway. Works with Woodward PCT (Programming and Configuration Tool) for parameter setup, offline configuration, firmware update and remote diagnostic access.
9. Harsh‑environment Hardware Adaptation Conformal coated circuit boards resist sulphide and corrosive gas. IP56 front‑panel rating; available in panel‑flush‑mount and bulkhead‑mount mechanical versions for field‑side installation.
