Function of SCHNEIDER 140SAI94000S MODICON Module

The 140SAI94000S is a SIL2-certified analog safety input module belonging to Schneider Modicon Quantum PLC platform, with TÜV Rheinland SIL2 safety approval. It is specially designed for critical safety control loops such as Emergency Shutdown System (ESD) and Safety Instrumented System (SIS).

Core Functions

1. Safety Analog Signal Acquisition & A/D Conversion Equipped with 8 isolated analog input channels, it accepts standard industrial sensor signals (0~25mA, ±10V) from temperature, pressure, flow and level transmitters. The built-in 16-bit high-precision ADC converts continuous field analog signals into digital data readable by PLC CPU, with a fast 15ms data update cycle to guarantee real-time monitoring of safety loops.
2. Channel Galvanic Isolation & Comprehensive Fault Diagnosis 1500 Vrms isolation between each channel protects the PLC backplane from field electrical interference. Full-channel self-diagnosis detects wire breakage, short circuit and over-range conditions instantly, and reports faults to the CPU to trigger safety interlock logic.
3. SIL2 Safety Redundant Circuit Design Redundant safety circuitry meets SIL2 safety integrity level requirements. In high-risk processes like petrochemical and power industries, the module automatically switches to a safe state upon internal or external faults to prevent catastrophic equipment damage and personal injury.
4. Field Hardware Compatibility Hot-swap supported, allowing module replacement without full system shutdown. It can be mounted on both local and remote RIO backplanes of Quantum racks, and works cooperatively with 140CRA93200 remote drop adapters to collect safety signals over long distances.
