Introduction
Function Analysis
The H201Ci-C is a multi-channel communications controller within the GE HYDRAN 201i dissolved gas-in-oil monitoring system.
It supports connection to up to four H201Ti intelligent transmitters, commonly deployed for three-phase transformer banks (Phase A/B/C plus a spare unit) to collect fault gas concentration data from each transmitter.
Unlike the H201Ci-1 single-channel controller, the H201Ci-C has no local display, no alarm relay contacts and no analog output; its core function is data communication aggregation only.
It communicates with H201Ti sensors via isolated supervisory links. Equipped with an RS‑485 network port, it can be daisy‑chained with other Ci‑series controllers to build a monitoring network supporting a maximum of 128 H201Ti transmitters.
The module provides RS‑232 and USB interfaces to forward all collected gas data to a host computer through a single communication channel; an optional modem enables remote access.
Acting as a field subnet gateway, it centrally coordinates data transmission of all connected sensors, simplifies cabling and reduces engineering costs.
It adopts NEMA 4X (IP66) weatherproof enclosure with built-in heater, supporting outdoor installation under wide temperature range from -40℃ to +55℃.
Application Purpose
This controller is used for on-line Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) of oil-immersed power transformers, shunt reactors and oil-filled instrument transformers.
It monitors characteristic fault gases including hydrogen, carbon monoxide, acetylene and ethylene dissolved in insulating oil, providing early warning of internal overheating, arcing and insulation degradation.
Typical application sites include power substations, thermal power plants, renewable energy booster stations and railway power supply systems.
It is widely adopted in three-phase transformer bank schemes, where one H201Ci-C centrally manages multiple H201Ti probes. At sites with multiple transformers, units can be networked via RS‑485 for unified data uploading to remote SCADA or monitoring platforms.
It serves as a communications gateway for multi-point monitoring systems, ideal for applications requiring all data to be transmitted to remote control rooms without local on-site display and alarm.
