Product Background

The 5X00106G02 is an 8‑channel fully‑isolated Fast‑HART analog input electronic module for Emerson Ovation DCS, originally developed by Westinghouse and manufactured in USA. It interfaces with 4‑20 mA HART‑compliant smart field transmitters for pressure, level, flow and temperature measurement.

Technical specifications: 8 input channels, galvanic isolation between channels and back‑plane; 16‑bit A/D converter; powered by 24 VDC back‑plane supply; hot‑swap capable; operating temperature: 0 ℃ ~ +60 ℃.

Analog 4‑20 mA signal is used for closed‑loop control, while superimposed HART FSK digital signal provides transmitter diagnostic, range and alarm data over the same field cable. Compatible with Emerson AMS asset management software for remote instrument maintenance.

Lifecycle Status: EOL (End‑of‑Life). Original manufacturer discontinued production. Available supplies are original surplus new spare parts or tested refurbished units, only for spare‑part replacement of legacy Ovation installations, not recommended for new‑build projects.

It shall be plugged into Ovation I/O base unit e.g. 5X00497G01 for operation; cannot work standalone.

2. Fast‑HART high‑speed digital communication: independent HART transceiver per channel, reads secondary variables, transmitter diagnostics, fault codes and range parameters; supports remote instrument configuration without field hand‑held communicator.
3. Full‑channel galvanic isolation: suppress EMI and ground‑loop interference to prevent signal drift and module damage for heavy‑industry cabinet environment.
4. Comprehensive self‑diagnostics: detect loop wire break, short‑circuit and signal over‑range, trigger system alarm.
5. Hot‑swap support: module can be replaced under powered‑on condition to minimize plant maintenance downtime.
6. Interoperable with AMS asset management system: upload HART device information for predictive maintenance & instrument asset management.

Important Note: This is electronic I/O module only. It requires matching Ovation I/O base unit such as 5X00497G01, standalone module is non‑functional. Ordinary AI modules cannot decode HART digital data.
