ABB developed the ACS1000 medium‑voltage drive platform for high‑power industrial motor speed‑regulation applications. The KU C720 AE01 is the dedicated Electronic Power Supply (EPS) PCB module designed for this drive platform. It is responsible for generating multiple isolated low‑voltage DC supply rails and processing auxiliary control signals for the converter cabinet’s control circuits, power‑cell monitoring and interface circuits.

Hardware highlights:

• Accepts wide‑range AC input, generates multiple isolated DC output voltages for control, sensing and relay circuits inside the ACS1000 drive cabinet.
• Built‑in filtering, surge protection and galvanic isolation between input and output.
• Integrated signal‑conditioning circuits for auxiliary feedback and interlock signals.
• Conformal‑coated PCB, industrial‑grade design for high‑EMC harsh industrial environments.
• Operating temperature range:‑25 °C ~ +70 °C, IP20, heavy‑duty vibration‑resistant construction.

Current Status This hardware is End‑of‑Life (EOL), discontinued by ABB. No brand‑new original production. The market mainly supplies refurbished, repaired or used spare units for maintenance and replacement of existing ACS1000 medium‑voltage drive installations.

Core Functions

Note: This is an EPS power‑supply & signal‑conditioning PCB board. It does not execute motor‑control algorithms; real‑time motor control is handled by the UFC911B101 main‑control board.

1. Multi‑rail isolated DC power conversion Converts AC input into multiple isolated regulated low‑voltage DC outputs. These supply power to the main‑control board, power‑cell monitoring circuits, interface modules and relay circuits inside the ACS1000 medium‑voltage drive cabinet. Provides galvanic isolation to protect sensitive control electronics from high‑voltage converter noise.
2. Auxiliary signal conditioning & interlock processing Processes and conditions cabinet‑level interlock signals, fault feedback signals and status‑monitoring signals from the drive system. Filters and shapes discrete and analog auxiliary signals before sending them to the main‑control unit.
3. Built‑in circuit protection Over‑voltage, over‑current, short‑circuit and surge protection. Built‑in inrush‑current limiting to avoid damaging upstream power sources at power‑on. Self‑diagnostic circuits detect power‑supply faults and generate fault‑alarm signals.
4. Fault alarm and status indication On‑board fault‑detection logic; outputs alarm signals to the drive control system. On‑board LEDs indicate power‑on status and power‑supply‑fault status for on‑site maintenance troubleshooting.
5. Cabinet‑level interface circuit Provides interface circuits for cabinet‑mounted auxiliary relays, temperature‑monitoring sensors and safety‑interlock loops of the medium‑voltage drive system.
