ABB Sweden developed the SYNPOL‑D automation platform targeting marine power‑generation and industrial generator control in the 1990s. Note: This is an integrated controller‑HMI panel. It is not a DCS CPU board, not a power‑supply card, not a drive main‑control board. It provides local operator‑level generator monitoring and basic control logic.

1. Local generator monitoring & parameter display Real‑time display of generator key parameters: voltage, current, power, frequency, power‑factor, alarm and fault status. Visual digital readouts and status indicator LEDs for on‑site operator observation.
2. Basic generator control & sequence logic Embedded control logic supports local start/stop, reset, parameter setting and simple sequencing for generator sets. It serves as local operator interface for generator‑set management, without requiring external PLC for basic operation.
3. Signal acquisition & I/O processing Processes digital and analog field signals from generator auxiliary circuits; handles digital inputs, relay outputs for alarm and interlock signals. Performs signal conditioning for generator status feedback.
4. Alarm & fault management Detects generator abnormal conditions, triggers local visual and audible alarms, stores fault event information. Sends fault signals to higher‑level monitoring system via communication port.
5. System communication Equipped with RS‑485 serial communication port for data exchange with other SYNPOL‑D modules, DCS or ship‑monitoring systems. Supports Modbus‑RTU for plant‑level data upload.
6. Operator‑friendly local operation Membrane keypad for on‑site manual operation, configuration and parameter adjustment; panel‑mount installation for control‑cabinet front‑face operation.
