Converts raw field signals into standard internal signals for the main AVR regulator CPU.

Excitation system hardware protection logic processing Implements hardware‑level protective functions independent of software logic: over‑excitation protection, under‑excitation monitoring, over‑voltage transient suppression, rotor over‑current hardware interlock.   1. Backplane bus data exchange Communicates with UNITROL main CPU board via internal rack backplane bus. Transmits sampled field measurement data upwards; receives AVR control commands downwards and distributes to power driver subunits. Realizes high‑speed deterministic data interaction within excitation cabinet.
  2. Binary input / output interlock handling Processes external interlock signals: generator breaker feedback, remote enable/disable command, emergency trip signal. Outputs hardware relay signals for excitation fault alarm, trip indication to DCS and local annunciator panel.
  3. On‑board status diagnosis & fault indication Multiple LED status indicators for signal channel status, power supply health and fault events. Captures hardware fault logs for on‑site troubleshooting, helps maintenance personnel locate signal‑circuit failure quickly.
  4. Transient surge and EMI suppression On‑board surge‑absorbing and filtering circuits. Suppresses high‑voltage transients and electromagnetic interference coming from generator field circuit, protects the core CPU module from damage in heavy‑duty power‑plant environment.

Important note: This board is a peripheral interface sub‑board. It cannot work standalone; it must cooperate with UNITROL main AVR CPU board, power unit and thyristor rectifier bridge to build a complete generator excitation control system.
