1. Galvanic isolation for each channel: Opto‑electrical isolation on every DeviceNet port. Eliminates ground‑loop noise and electrical surge damage, adapting to high‑EMI plasma chamber environment inside semiconductor fabrication equipment.
2. Bidirectional real‑time data transmission: Transmits process setpoints (gas flow, pressure parameters) from tool host PC to field slave devices; feeds back measured values, device status, fault codes and alarm information back to the main control software.

Applications & Use Cases

This is OEM proprietary spare part exclusively for Applied Materials semiconductor wafer manufacturing equipment, mainly deployed on Endura, Centura, Producer and AKT PVD process platforms.

1. Multi‑segment DeviceNet field‑bus gateway: Links host industrial PC to MKS MFCs, Baratron pressure sensors, vacuum valves and other DeviceNet‑capable hardware distributed on process chambers. Four independent channels support separate DeviceNet subnetworks for different chamber subsystems.
2. Semiconductor process recipe execution: Delivers recipe parameters of deposition and etching processes to field hardware; collects real‑time process data for wafer‑processing loop control and production log recording.
3. Equipment fault monitoring & safety interlock: Reports device failures, communication drop‑out and hardware alarm events to tool host software, triggers equipment interlock protection to avoid wafer scrap and hardware damage.
4. Reduction of field‑wiring complexity: Adopts digital DeviceNet bus architecture instead of traditional point‑to‑point analog wiring, lowers wiring workload and reduces analog signal drift risk to improve process repeatability.
5. Fab maintenance & spare‑part replacement: Used for field replacement of defective communication cards on legacy AMAT production tools. Extends service life of existing fabrication systems without redesigning the whole control architecture.
