1. Real-time Process Data Visualization Read PLC variables continuously via communication links, display running parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow rate, liquid level, motor current and equipment status on graphical screens. It supports digital indicator, bar graph and trend curve display for operators to view process changes intuitively.
2. Touch Operation & Setpoint Modification Resistive touch screen receives operator input. Users can start/stop equipment, switch operation modes, adjust set values, input parameters and trigger manual actions by touching screen buttons. On-screen numeric/alphanumeric keyboard is embedded for data entry.
3. Alarm Message Management Capture alarm events transmitted from PLC. Pop up fault messages with timestamp, alarm level and description. It supports alarm acknowledgement, alarm history buffer and fault log query. Limit alarms for over-temperature, overload and abnormal pressure can be configured.
4. Recipe Management Store multiple groups of production formula parameters. Operators can select, upload or download recipe data between panel and PLC to quickly switch production specifications for batch manufacturing. Recipe data can be saved to USB flash disk for backup.
5. Data Logging & Archiving Record process values and event logs, store historical data on USB storage device in standard CSV format. Archived files can be exported to PC for report generation, quality tracing and off-line analysis with Excel.
6. Multi-language Support Supports 16 online display languages and 32 configuration languages. Operators can switch language on site, suitable for multinational factory workshops.
7. Flexible Industrial Communication Ethernet TCP/IP and RS485/422 serial interfaces. It communicates with S7-200 SMART PLC directly, also supports Modbus RTU / Modbus TCP to connect with third-party PLC, VFD and other automation devices. USB port is used for project downloading, firmware upgrade and data backup.
8. System Self-diagnosis & Status Indication Built-in self-test function to monitor power supply, communication connection and touch hardware faults. Panel system information and fault codes can be displayed locally for commissioning and troubleshooting.

Core Purpose

The SIMATIC SMART1000 IE panel serves as operator interface between human and automation control system. It realizes two-way information exchange: visualizing field operating data from PLC and receiving manual operation commands sent by operators, to monitor and control production equipment conveniently without touching the PLC program directly. It is a cost-effective HMI specially designed to match S7-200 SMART PLC for small and medium automation projects.

Application Note

This is a basic economical HMI panel of Siemens SMART Line series. It is embedded installed on cabinet door, front face IP65 protected against dust and splash water. It cannot work independently and must communicate with PLC to complete control visualization. It is not recommended for high-end complicated process control requiring massive data storage.
