Main Functions

Multi-type temperature sensor input & linearization Supports RTD (Pt100 etc.), multiple types of thermocouples (B/E/J/K/N/R/S/T), potentiometer and mV voltage signals. It linearizes raw temperature sensor signals and converts them into standard 4–20mA analog output signal. 2/3/4-wire RTD wiring is available.

Galvanic isolation & intrinsic safety barrier Provides galvanic isolation between the hazardous field side and safe control side. It acts as an intrinsic safety barrier to limit energy entering explosive areas, protecting field temperature sensors in Zone 0/1 hazardous locations.
Sensor & line fault diagnosis (LFD) Built-in line fault detection function, monitors sensor breakage and short-circuit. It outputs defined fault current signals following NAMUR NE43 standard for host DCS/SIS system alarm judgment.
Cold junction compensation for thermocouple Supports internal or external cold junction compensation for thermocouple measurement, eliminates temperature error from terminal block ambient temperature fluctuation.
Parameter configuration via PACTware All sensor type, measuring range and fault response parameters can be set through PACTware software, also supports DIP switch local setting. Sink/source 4–20mA output selectable.
SIL 2 functional safety certification Compliant with IEC 61508 SIL2 safety integrity level, suitable for safety-related measurement loops. Bus-powered 24VDC (20–30VDC) via H-system termination board, slim 12.5mm housing for dense cabinet mounting.

Applications / Purpose

HiC2081 is a temperature signal conditioning safety module of Pepperl+Fuchs H-System, used for temperature measurement signal transmission between hazardous field sensors and DCS / SIS safety control systems.

Petrochemical, chemical plants, oil & gas sites, refineries: temperature monitoring of reactors, pipelines, storage tanks.
Hazardous process safety loops: feed temperature monitoring for ESD and F&G systems, often matched with Triconex SIS termination boards.
Pharmaceutical, LNG, offshore platform: temperature signal isolation and conversion in explosive atmosphere. It isolates field hazardous circuits, converts raw thermal signals into standard 4–20mA for PLC / SIS / DCS acquisition, detects sensor cable faults, and guarantees safe and accurate temperature measurement in explosive areas.
