The Panasonic FP-XH series of compact PLCs have an identical appearance structure, terminal layout, and right-side expansion slot to the FP-XH main unit. The common models are:
FP-XH C40T / AFPXHC40TD: 40 points (24 input points + 16 output points, transistor output)
FP-XH C60T / AFPXHC60TD: 60 points (36 input points + 24 output points, transistor output)
The suffix T indicates transistor output, which is specifically used for driving servo / stepper motors; the suffix R indicates relay output, which is only for switching quantity control.
FP-XH is an upgraded version of the previous FP-X, belonging to Panasonic’s small-sized integrated programmable controller.

The body is equipped with 4-axis high-speed pulses (up to 100kHz), supporting electronic cams, synchronous following, origin return;
After installing the EtherCAT module, it can control 16-axis bus servo, multi-axis linkage, fly-cutting, electronic gear synchronization.
Computing Speed: 0.04μs / logic instruction, program maximum 64K steps, double the capacity of the old FP-X;
Built-in functions: multiple high-speed counting, multiple PID temperature regulation, pulse capture, hardware interrupt;
Communication Support: USB, RS232, RS485 (Modbus-RTU), EtherCAT bus, contact touch screen, frequency converter, servo, upper computer.
III. Detailed Applications
FP-XH is the core control unit of medium-sized automation equipment, replacing the old FP-X, focusing on motion control, with four application scenarios:

1. Multi-axis precise motion control (the core purpose)
   Combined with servo / stepper motors to complete precise positioning, synchronization, cutting:
   3C equipment: dispensing machine, screw locking machine, automatic transplant platform, PCB board splitting machine, visual positioning equipment;
   Packaging equipment: pillow packaging, bag making machine, cutting machine, labeling machine, heat sealing synchronous control;
   Lithium battery / photovoltaic small fixtures: foil cutting, winding, silicon wafer handling positioning;
   Textile machinery: high-speed winding, cutting, knitting synchronization.
2. General equipment logic automation
   Process switch quantity signals to achieve equipment automatic circulation, cylinder / conveyor belt / safety door interlock, counting, fault alarm:
   Automated assembly line, loading and unloading mechanical hands, sorting and conveying line;
   Small injection molding auxiliary machines, heat press fixtures, testing fixtures, medical equipment.
3. Temperature and pressure closed-loop regulation
   Expand AD/DA module to collect temperature, pressure, liquid level signals, built-in PID automatic temperature control, pressure regulation:
   Heat sealing machine, drying equipment, constant temperature pressing fixture, small hydraulic equipment stable pressure.
4. Bus networking multi-device linkage
   RS485 Modbus: connect touch screen, multiple frequency converters, temperature control instrument, monitor output, equipment parameters;
   EtherCAT bus: multiple servo synchronous linkage, high-speed multi-axis equipment;
   Support upper computer to collect data, realize equipment networking, remote operation.
   IV. Differences from the previous FP-X C40T
   FP-XH program capacity, axis control quantity, expansion capability have been fully upgraded;
   FP-X has a maximum of only 2-axis pulses, while FP-XH has the body directly 4-axis, supporting EtherCAT bus multi-axis;
   FP-XH computes faster, has stronger anti-interference ability, and is mainly used in new high-precision automation equipment.
