Function of Schneider Electric 140CPS12420 Power Supply Module

The 140CPS12420 is an AC power supply module specially designed for Schneider Modicon Quantum PLC racks, which supplies stable DC operating power to all CPUs, communication modules and I/O modules mounted on the Quantum backplane.

Core Functions

1. AC to DC Power Conversion It accepts standard industrial 110/220V AC input, and converts it into 5V and 24V DC voltages required by the PLC backplane, to power all controllers, analog/digital I/O modules and remote communication adapters inside the rack.
2. High Power Output for Full Rack Loads It delivers sufficient power capacity to drive a full row of Quantum rack modules, supporting large-scale I/O systems, redundant CPUs and multiple communication cards simultaneously.
3. Multi-layer Electrical Protection Built-in protection circuits against overcurrent, overvoltage, short circuit and overheating. It automatically cuts off power output when short circuit or overload occurs on field circuits to avoid permanent damage to CPU and control modules.
4. Operation Monitoring & Fault Alarm Equipped with power OK indicator and fault alarm LED on the front panel. The alarm light will turn on and send fault signals to the control system in case of power abnormality, overload or failure, enabling quick maintenance troubleshooting.
5. Rack Mounting & Redundancy Support It fits standard Quantum rack slots directly. Multiple identical power supply modules can be paralleled for power redundancy, realizing seamless power switchover during power failure to guarantee continuous operation of critical equipment in chemical and power industries. Hot-swap replacement is supported.
