Product Overview
NCM 4329 (Network Communication Module) is a dedicated network communication card for Schneider Triconex TMR triple modular redundant SIS safety instrumented systems, equipped with dual BNC coaxial Ethernet ports plus an RS232 debug serial port. It acts as the core data exchange gateway for internal and external interconnection of the whole Tricon system, applied to SIL3 safety scenarios including ESD, BMS and turbine protection to realize data communication between multiple systems, upper equipment and engineering workstations.
- Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) fault-tolerant communication architecture for reliable safety data transmission The module integrates three independent communication processing channels that exchange data synchronously with the TMR architecture of MP main processors and perform real-time hardware voting on three groups of data. If one communication link or network port fails, the other two channels maintain complete data transmission and reception without loss of process alarms, SOE logs or interlock commands, complying with IEC61508 SIL3 functional safety standards.
- Dual isolated Ethernet ports for partitioned communication Two independent isolated coaxial Ethernet ports (NET1 & NET2) are configured:
- NET1: For peer-to-peer interconnection between Tricon controllers and internal system GPS time synchronization to build a dedicated safety intranet;
- NET2: For connection with external upper-level systems including DCS, HMI operator stations, OPC servers, engineering workstations and third-party monitoring hosts to realize cross-system data exchange.
- Multi-protocol compatibility for full-scenario data interaction It natively supports Triconex proprietary TSAA protocol, TriStation configuration protocol, Modbus TCP, OPC, DDE and other industrial standard protocols. It supports program download, real-time process data upload, millisecond-level SOE log transmission, remote fault diagnosis and clock synchronization, connecting the safety system to the plant-wide control network.
- RS232 local debug serial port A built-in DEBUG serial port supports on-site local commissioning, firmware upgrade and fault log reading. On-site troubleshooting of communication and program exceptions can be completed without Ethernet access for convenient cabinet maintenance.
- Real-time communication link diagnosis and fault alarming It continuously monitors port transmit/receive status, cable disconnection, network conflict, communication timeout and module hardware faults. Front panel ACTIVE/TX/RX LEDs display link status intuitively. Faults automatically trigger alarms and Sequence of Events (SOE) logs uploaded to upper systems for fast network fault localization.
- Peer-to-peer networking of multiple Tricon controllers Multiple Tricon safety racks can be networked via Ethernet ports of NCM4329 to realize data sharing and interlock linkage between multi-unit and multi-plant SIS systems, suitable for distributed safety control of large refineries and offshore platforms.
- Electrical isolation & industrial anti-interference protection Electrical isolation is implemented between network ports and backplane bus to block ground loops and electromagnetic interference from variable frequency drives and motors. BNC coaxial ports feature strong surge and RF interference resistance, suitable for high-interference hazardous sites such as oil & gas and chemical plants.
- Support online hot-swap maintenance without system shutdown The NCM4329 module can be hot-swapped while the system operates under full load. Redundant communication links keep data transmission uninterrupted, and the whole ESD/BMS safety interlock system runs continuously without full plant shutdown for maintenance.
- Large-capacity event buffer for intact SOE log upload Independent data buffer is equipped to cache alarms, trip signals and switch action SOE logs during temporary network outage. Data will be transmitted automatically after network recovery without loss of fault sequence records, meeting accident traceability audit requirements.
