Introduction

Function Description

This unit is a multifunctional microprocessor-based protection, control and measurement device integrating feeder protection, circuit breaker bay control, metering, oscillography, event recording and communication.

It provides comprehensive protection elements including phase & ground directional overcurrent, over/under voltage, over/under frequency, breaker failure protection, thermal overload and negative sequence protection. It supports local/remote circuit breaker tripping/closing, synchronism check, auto-reclosing and bus transfer schemes.

The relay measures current, voltage, power, energy and harmonics continuously. It is equipped with fault waveform capture, sequence of events (SOE) recorder and fault reports for post-fault analysis. Built-in graphical LCD HMI and programmable logic allow customized interlock and alarm logic.

Communication interfaces include RS232, RS485 and Ethernet, supporting Modbus TCP/RTU, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-104 and IEC 61850 with PTP / IRIG-B time synchronization for integration with substation SCADA systems. Modular pluggable hardware simplifies maintenance.

Application Purpose

It serves as primary or backup protection for medium-voltage feeders in power plants and substations. It trips circuit breakers rapidly during short-circuit, earth fault and overload conditions to isolate faulty sections and protect cables and switchgear. Meanwhile, it implements bay control and distribution automation functions, transmitting operational and fault data to monitoring systems. Typical applications include auxiliary power systems of thermal power plants and industrial distribution substations.
