Introduction
1. Core Functions
- Central Rack Communication Hub It is the core communication gateway of the Bently Nevada 3500 machinery protection rack, which must be installed in Slot No.1 next to the rack power supply. It manages the backplane data bus inside the rack, coordinates data interaction between all internal monitoring modules (vibration, displacement, speed, overspeed modules) and unifies data scheduling.
- External System Data Interaction IO Interface It provides multi-type industrial communication interfaces to transmit real-time machine operating data, alarm signals, fault codes and protection status to upper-level control systems such as PLC, DCS, SCADA and HMI. It supports mainstream protocols including Modbus, Modbus/TCP, proprietary Bently Nevada communication protocol, serial RS232/RS485 and Ethernet TCP/IP.
- Rack Configuration & Remote Debugging Channel Engineers can connect configuration software or System 1 condition monitoring platform via this module to complete rack parameter setup, protection threshold modification, event log upload and equipment remote diagnosis. The built-in modem supports remote dial-up access for unattended industrial sites without Ethernet coverage.
- System Self-Diagnosis & Fault Alarm Output It continuously self-checks the communication status of each slot module, backplane bus faults, power supply anomalies and connection disconnections. It outputs hard-wired dry contact alarm signals to external alarm panels when system communication failures occur, realizing interlock reminder for on-site operators.
- Redundant Stable Operation & Hot Swap Support Adopts industrial redundant circuit design; it can automatically switch communication links when partial signal channels fail to ensure uninterrupted monitoring. The module supports hot swapping without shutting down the whole rack, greatly simplifying on-site maintenance and replacement work.
- Expansion Compatibility for Communication Processors It can be matched with Bently Nevada external communication accessories such as TDXnet, TDIX and DDIX to expand multi-rack cascading and long-distance data transmission capabilities for large-scale unit monitoring systems.
