1.Main Functions

1. Equipped with a high-speed 32-bit RISC processor, it acts as the core computing unit of DeltaV system. It executes complete industrial process control logics including PID regulation, sequence control, safety interlock and batch recipe processing, with a minimum control execution cycle of 100ms.
2. Manages data interaction with local I/O modules: collects analog/digital input signals from field instruments and outputs analog/digital commands to drive control valves and actuators. It communicates with all I/O cards in the rack at high speed via LocalBus.
3. Equipped with dual full-duplex 100M Ethernet ports for data exchange with operator workstations, servers and third-party PLCs. It supports automatic network addressing and plug-and-play without DIP switch configuration.
4. Built-in comprehensive self-diagnosis for hardware faults, open I/O loops and communication errors, with front-panel LED indicators for fast fault location. Redundant hot standby configuration is supported for bumpless switchover during failures.
5. Natively compatible with HART smart transmitter data parsing, able to retrieve transmitter diagnostic and calibration data, and supports remote instrument maintenance with AMS asset management software. It undertakes trend data storage, event time stamping and multi-level alarm logic calculation.
6. Hot-swappable modular design; the controller can be replaced without rack power-off. It is fully compatible with control programs of legacy DeltaV systems, enabling direct upgrade replacement without rewriting control strategies.

2. Application & Usage

This module is the core computing controller of Emerson DeltaV DCS, responsible for process regulation, safety interlock and equipment condition monitoring of the whole plant unit.

Core Function: Central processing of process parameters collected from field transmitters to automatically adjust production conditions. It triggers emergency trip interlocks under abnormal working conditions to prevent equipment damage and safety incidents, complying with SIL2 safety standards for chemical and energy industries.
