1.Function

It adopts ABB Pressductor® magneto‑elastic measuring principle. It converts heavy mechanical rolling force into millivolt‑level measuring signal. Featuring low‑impedance signal output, it is highly resistant to insulation degradation and harsh mill‑site environment. It can withstand up to 700% overload of nominal force. It must work together with ABB Millmate signal amplifier unit (MA101 / MC400) to convert raw signal into standard 4‑20 mA or digital output for higher‑level control system.

2.Main Applications

Primarily applied for roll‑force measurement on hot rolling mills and cold rolling mills in steel plants. This circular‑type load cell is installed under mill screw or hydraulic cylinder to measure real‑time rolling force between work rolls. It supports roll gap setting, roll‑force distribution monitoring and mill overload protection, improving steel strip rolling quality. It is widely used in plate mills, strip mills, tube mills and vertical roll mills for heavy‑duty metallurgical environment with high temperature, moisture, oxide scale and heavy vibration. It cannot operate standalone and requires Millmate signal conditioning unit.
