Main Functions

1. Process closed‑loop control & logic execution: Perform PID regulation, interlock logic and sequential SFC control. Execute closed‑loop calculation for temperature, pressure, flow, liquid‑level and other process variables, with minimum control cycle of 100 ms.
2. I/O subsystem management: Acquire data from conventional I/O and CHARMS electronic marshalling I/O (CIOC) via DeltaV local bus, send output commands to field I/O cards. Auto‑detect connected I/O modules for plug‑and‑play operation; no dip‑switch address setting required.
3. 1:1 dual hot‑standby redundancy: Support primary‑standby redundant configuration. Bumpless automatic switch‑over will be triggered once primary controller fails, preventing plant shutdown and improving system availability.
4. Network data communication: Dual full‑duplex 100 Mbps Ethernet ports. Communicate with DeltaV operator workstations, HMI and other controllers; upload real‑time data, alarms, time‑stamped events & historical trends; receive operator commands.
5. Legacy system migration compatibility: Support PROVOX and RS3 legacy I/O interfaces for modernization projects. Existing control configuration can be migrated and executed directly.
6. Hardware self‑diagnosis & data retention: Built‑in hardware self‑test, report faults of CPU, memory, bus and power supply. Control configuration, process parameters and alarm events are protected against power loss. Front‑panel LED indicators assist on‑site fault localization.

Application Purpose

This is core controller module for Emerson DeltaV M‑Series Distributed Control System (DCS).

1. Typical industries: Petrochemical, refinery, natural‑gas, pharmaceutical, power plant, water‑treatment and other process‑industry automation plants.
2. Installation: Plug‑in slot installation on DeltaV rack back‑plane. It acts as computation core of whole DCS system; all process control strategies run inside this controller.
3. Operation workflow: Receive signals from field transmitters and sensors. After calculation, output commands to control valves, pumps, solenoid valves and other actuators to realize automatic continuous production of process units.More products: www.plcva.com
4. Application scenarios: For medium‑size I/O count projects. Redundant configuration is recommended for critical process loops. Also used for retrofit & migration of legacy DeltaV, PROVOX and RS3 systems.
