ABB Switzerland developed the S100 I/O series for the Advant MOD 300 / Symphony DCS in the 1990s. DSAI130A is the high‑channel‑count analog input module of this I/O family, designed for large‑scale process‑control plants requiring massive analog measurement pointsABB Group.

1. Multi‑channel analog signal acquisition & A/D conversion Receives field sensor signals (temperature, pressure, flow, level, etc.), converts analog voltage/current signals into digital data, and transmits data to the system controller through the subrack backplane bus. Supports differential input to reduce industrial electromagnetic noise interference.
2. Signal conditioning & filtering Built‑in second‑order low‑pass filtering, suppresses 50 Hz power‑frequency interference; high common‑mode rejection for harsh noisy industrial environments.
3. On‑board self‑diagnostics & status indication Built‑in channel‑level fault diagnostics; detects open‑circuit, short‑circuit and signal‑out‑of‑range faults. Front‑panel LED indicators show module running status and channel‑level fault status for on‑site troubleshootingABB Group.
4. Redundancy & hot‑swap capability Supports redundant I/O configuration. Hot‑swap is supported under proper operating procedures, so faulty board replacement can be performed without shutting down the whole control system, improving plant availabilityABB Group.
5. Parameter configuration via system engineering tool All input ranges, channel modes and filtering parameters are configured through ABB DCS engineering software, no physical hardware jumpers required.
