1.Main Functions

This is a slave‑type Genius bus communication interface module for VersaMax remote‑I/O racks, implementing distributed I/O architecture for GE PLC control systems.

1. Genius Bus Communication Interface It acts as a communication bridge between VersaMax local I/O racks and host PLC CPU over Genius token‑passing serial fieldbus. It converts Genius bus messages to control local I/O modules and uploads field I/O status back to the master controller. Dual Genius bus terminals support main bus connection and redundant bus wiring, avoiding bus break‑down caused by single‑point cable failureQualitrol. Supported baud rates: 38.4 Kbaud, 76.8 Kbaud, 153.6 Kbaud (standard / extended). Configurable bus station address: 0‑31.
2. Remote I/O Rack Management Hosts up to 8 racks; maximum 8 I/O modules per individual rack. Total capacity: 1024 discrete input points, 1024 discrete output points; 128‑byte analog input and 128‑byte analog output per bus scan cycle. It reads discrete & analog input status from local I/O modules, writes output commands received from host controller to local output modules.
3. Cross‑platform PLC Compatibility Works as Genius slave station with GE Series 90‑70, PACSystems RX3i, RX7i PLCs and Genius bus controllers (e.g. IC693BEM331) under correct firmware version.
4. Local I/O Diagnostics Reports rack fault, module missing, power failure and bus communication error status back to host PLC for system alarm and maintenance.

2. Applications

1. Distributed Remote I/O Deployment Deploy VersaMax I/O racks in field locations away from central PLC cabinet, widely used for large‑scale factories where sensors and actuators are geographically scattered. 4. Power‑plant Auxiliary Control & Substation Auxiliary I/O Used as remote signal acquisition and output slave station for auxiliary machinery control, interlock signal collection in power‑generation and substation automation.
