Introduction

Basic Positioning
It belongs to the OMNUC W series AC servo driver, with built-in MECHATROLINK-II high-speed motion bus communication. The rated power is 750W, the input voltage is AC 200V level (single phase / three phase 200-230V). It is an old model of bus-type servo driver from Omron. It has been discontinued and the replacement model is R88D-KN08H-ML2 (G5 series).
II. Core Function (What is a servo driver)
A servo driver is the control power supply + motion controller of a servo motor, equivalent to the “brain and amplifier” of the servo motor:
Receiving motion control instructions from the upper PLC (position / speed / torque);
Converting AC power into precise and controllable three-phase drive current to drive the corresponding R88M-W series 750W servo motor;
Real-time reading of motor encoder feedback to form closed-loop control, achieving high-precision positioning, speed regulation, and torque output;
Through the MECHATROLINK-II bus to achieve multi-axis synchronization and high-speed motion control.

III. Hardware Interface Correspondence (Terminal Function on the Diagram)

  1. Left strong current terminals (power circuit)
    L1, L2, L3: Main power input, AC 200V single phase / three-phase power supply;
    L1C, L2C: Control power terminals, providing power for the driver board and communication circuits;
    B1/⊕, B2, B3: Regenerative braking resistor terminals, energy dissipation of the motor during deceleration to prevent overvoltage alarms;
    ⊖1, ⊖2: DC bus negative terminal;
    U, V, W: Three-phase power output of the servo motor, connected to the stator coils of the motor;
    Ground terminal: Equipment protection grounding.
  2. Right signal interface (from top to bottom)
    CN6 A/B: MECHATROLINK-II bus communication port, A/B at the top are the bus input/output, multi-axis hand-to-hand series connection to the motion PLC (CJ1W-MCH71/CS1W-MCH71);
    CN3: Analog output monitoring port, can be externally connected to instruments to view real-time speed and torque;
    CN1: I/O digital signal terminals (enable, alarm reset, limit, origin, alarm output, etc., switch quantities);
    CN2: Servo motor encoder interface, connects the motor encoder cable to read position feedback;
    CNF: External operation panel / debugging software interface, can be plugged in handheld unit or computer for parameter debugging.
  3. Other components
    SW1: Rotary dial switch, sets MECHATROLINK-II bus station number;
    CHARGE indicator light: Warning light for DC bus being energized upon power-on, internal still has high voltage within 5 minutes after power-off, do not disassemble or connect wires.

    Mainly bus control
    Relying on the MECHATROLINK-II high-speed motion bus, a single bus can be connected to multiple servos, with high synchronization, simple wiring, suitable for multi-axis联动 equipment; at the same time, compatible with pulse control (CN1 terminal), can be adapted to ordinary pulse-type PLC.
    Three control modes
    Position control: High-precision positioning (mechanical hand, conveying platform, indexing mechanism);
    Speed control: Stable speed regulation (rolling up and down, conveyor belt); Torque control: Constant tension control (for films, wire coils).
    High precision closed loop
    Equipped with R88M-W 750W servo motor, standard incremental encoder, position repeatability accuracy ±1 pulse, torque repeatability accuracy ±1%, quick start-stop response.
    Power supply specifications
    Input: AC 200-230V (single phase / three phase universal), rated output current 5.5A, compatible with 750W servo motor.
    Environmental adaptability
    Operating temperature: 0-55℃. No corrosive gases, no condensation in industrial environment. Suitable for machine tools and automated production lines.

    VI. Supplementary notes
    Production suspension information: This W series stopped accepting orders in 2013. The existing equipment is all inventory second-hand / inventory spare parts. New products are replaced with R88D-KN08H-ML2 (G5 series, performance upgrade, compatible with MECHATROLINK-II);
    Matching motor: Must be paired with the same series R88M-W08 (750W) servo motor. Cross-series mixing is not allowed;
    Safety points: Wait for 5 minutes after power off, wait until the CHARGE light is completely off before reconnecting the wires. There is a risk of electric shock from the internal high-voltage capacitor.
