Introduction
Basic Positioning

It is the CPU host unit of the small-sized modular PLC of the OMRON CJ1M series, belonging to the core processor of the Sysmac CJ1 series compact programmable logic controller. It comes with built-in high-speed pulse output and is specifically used for small equipment, multi-axis servo motion control, and is perfectly compatible with the servo driver R88D-WN08H-ML2 in your previous picture. It is designed for precise positioning control of single/double-axis servo.
II. Core Function (What is PLC CPU)
PLC CPU is the control brain of the entire automated equipment, responsible for the logical operations, motion positioning, signal acquisition, and communication interaction of the entire equipment:
Reading digital/analog input signals such as photoelectric, limit switches, buttons, etc.;
Running control programs such as ladder diagrams and structured text, automatically determining the equipment operation flow;
Outputting switch signals to control solenoid valves, indicator lights; It comes with a high-speed pulse interface to directly drive servo/stepper motors for precise positioning;
Linking servo, touch screen, frequency converter, other PLCs through buses (MECHATROLINK-II, DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, etc.);
Fault alarm, data recording, parameter reading and writing, human-machine interaction communication.
Model Segmentation Interpretation
CJ1M: OMRON CJ series compact modular PLC sub-series, focusing on motion control of small equipment;

Integrated 10-point input, 6-point output, without the need for additional I/O modules to perform simple equipment control:
Input (IN 10 points): connected to proximity switches, travel limit switches, start/stop buttons, sensors;
Output (OUT 6 points): 2 high-speed pulses, 2 PWM pulses (drive servo/stepper positioning), 2 ordinary transistor outputs (control solenoid valves, indicator lights).
Key point: 2 high-speed pulses can directly send pulse control for servo, paired with your previous R88D-WN series servo; If multi-axis synchronization is needed, an MECHATROLINK-II motion control module CJ1W-MCH71 can be added for bus control servo. - Front communication interface (from top to bottom)
Peripheral port (Peripheral RS232 port, square port)
Connects to computer CX-One programming software, handheld programmer, downloads/upload programs, online monitoring and debugging; can also communicate with touch screens, serial ports of upper computers.
RS232C serial port (9-pin DB9)
Independent serial port, can freely connect to human-machine interface HMI, frequency converter, barcode scanner, upper industrial control computer, for custom serial port communication.
