Introduction
Functions
- Designed for Tricon V9/V10/V11 Safety Instrumented System (SIS). Adopts TMR (Triple Modular Redundancy) technology with 2-out-of-3 voting logic to eliminate single point of failure, certified for SIL3 per IEC61508.
- 8 configurable analog output channels. Supports standard signal ranges: 4–20mA and 0–10VDC for continuous modulating control.
- Comprehensive channel diagnostics for open circuit, short circuit and module faults. Supports hot-swap replacement; module can be changed online without system shutdown.
- Converts digital signals from safety controller into industry-standard analog signals to operate field devices. Three independent internal circuits perform parallel calculation and voting to guarantee safe output under fault conditions.
- Configurable via TriStation software and requires dedicated termination baseplate.

Applications
- Widely deployed in Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD) and anti-surge control systems for high-risk industries: oil & gas, petrochemical, power plant, LNG, coal chemical industry.
- Provides control signals to pneumatic control valves, electric actuators and valve positioners for continuous process regulation of pressure, temperature and flow loops.
- Mainly supplied as spare parts for existing Tricon installed base. Trident series modules are recommended for new projects; 3481 is primarily used for plant revamp and replacement.
- Typical applications: reactor control, compressor anti-surge control, pipeline pressure regulation, flare system safety control and other critical process safety loops.
