1.Term Explanation
- TRICONEX: Brand name (Kangjisen), a Tricon Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) SIS Safety Instrumented System brand under Schneider Electric, designed for ESD emergency shutdown, Fire & Gas, BMS furnace safety interlock control of high-risk industries including oil & gas, chemical and power plants.
- MP: Abbreviation of Main Processor, the core computing unit of the entire safety system.
- 3101S2: Complete hardware model. S2 stands for the second-generation revised hardware, upgraded in memory capacity, scan cycle, wide-temperature environmental performance and fault diagnosis accuracy. It is the standard CPU card for medium & small-scale Tricon systems.

Supplementary Core Architecture Note:
Adopts native TMR triple 2-out-of-3 fault-tolerant architecture. Three MP3101S2 modules must operate synchronously in one rack. Three independent computing cores execute identical safety logic in parallel and compare operation results every scan cycle. Failure of any single processor, memory or bus will not trigger spurious trip or fail-to-trip, fully certified TÜV SIL3.
Built-in dedicated TriBus triple safety backplane bus controller to uniformly manage local DI/AI/SDO IO cards, NCM communication modules and SRXM fiber remote extenders.
Equipped with onboard program flash memory and high-speed static SRAM to cache real-time process data, interlock status and millisecond SOE sequence records. Data can be retained for a short period after power loss to support accident traceability audit for safety supervision authorities.
Positioned as a processor dedicated to medium & small-scale units, its computing power and maximum supported IO points are lower than MP3005/MP3006 large processors, suitable for small factories, skid-mounted equipment, skid-mounted LNG and small boiler units with fewer IO points and simple logic.
Supports online rack hot-swap; full safety interlock remains operational during replacement of a single faulty processor without plant shutdown.

2. Core Main Purposes
- Safety interlock logic calculation (core function) Executes safety programs downloaded via TriStation, including ESD emergency shutdown, Fire & Gas leakage protection, small boiler BMS furnace safety, skid-mounted compressor shutdown protection and skid-mounted LNG overpressure protection. Three processors perform independent synchronous calculations, and hardware 2oo3 voting outputs final trip commands to drive SDO digital output modules for valve cut-off and unit shutdown.
- Periodic collection and fault diagnosis of full rack IO points Cyclically reads real-time process parameters of local digital input DI and analog input AI, and continuously diagnoses wire breakage, short circuit, load faults and offline cards. It also collects signals from remote explosion-proof IO cabinets through SRXM4210 fiber modules. All faults generate unified alarms and SOE sequence records.
- Triple TriBus bus synchronization and hardware fault-tolerant voting Three MP3101S2 modules synchronize programs, clocks and process data in real time via triple redundant backplane bus. Operation results of three channels are verified each scan cycle. If a single core, memory or bus communication malfunctions, the other two channels output reliable interlock commands normally to eliminate single-point failure safety risks.
