1. Isolated passive relay contact signal output Equipped with multiple mechanical relays, it converts low-voltage logic signals from DCS controllers into industrial-grade passive switch contact signals, realizing electrical isolation between weak and strong electricity, and protecting main control cards from high voltage and surge damage on site.
2. Drive field loads Relay contacts can directly drive industrial field equipment such as solenoid valves, indicator lights, on-site alarm horns, contactor coils, and local start-stop circuits of fans and valves.
3. Expansion of split signal loops A single module integrates multiple independent relay channels, expanding multi-point digital outputs with one card, simplifying cabinet wiring and centralized management of field switch control loops.
4. Safe holding of status under faults The module supports optional logic for contact reset or latching upon power loss. The contact action state is controllable during system faults or power failure to ensure safe interlock of critical process equipment such as boilers and power plant units.
5. Standard backplane bus connection for cabinets Compatible with the standard I/O backplane of the Ovation DCS system, it communicates with controllers and logic cards via the bus to receive digital control commands issued by the upper system.

2. Application & Purposes

This module is a dedicated I/O accessory card for the Ovation Distributed Control System (DCS), mainly used in thermal power plants, cogeneration plants, gas-fired power plants and chemical process industries:

1. Auxiliary equipment control for boilers and steam turbines in thermal power plants: drive local start-stop circuits of induced draft fans, forced draft fans, feed water pumps, coal mills, etc.
2. On-off control of solenoid valves for process valves and electric actuators;
3. Output of plant-wide audible and visual alarms, fault indicator lights and local operation panel signals;
4. Safety interlock loops: interlock trip output for overtemperature, overpressure and liquid level out-of-limit conditions;
5. Switch control of process equipment in chemical, papermaking and metallurgical plants;
6. Remote switching control of low-voltage contactors in power distribution rooms;
7. Centralized digital output expansion inside control cabinets, isolating strong and weak electricity uniformly to reduce field interference.

Design Orientation

As a dedicated digital output isolation accessory module for DCS systems, it solves the problem that low-power main control cards cannot directly drive high-power field equipment. Physical isolation via relays blocks on-site interference and reverse high-voltage surges, making it a mainstream control accessory for the power industry.
