Introduction

1.Core Functions

  1. IO Channel Expansion for Protection Relays (Core Basic Function) UR series main protection relays (G60, M60, C60, etc.) have limited native I/O points. The UR6PH serves as an expansion board to increase digital signal acquisition and control output points, realizing signal access and drive control for auxiliary equipment such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, cooling fans and oil pumps.
  2. 4 Digital Input (DI) Channels for Primary Equipment Status Acquisition Collect passive/active contact signals from field devices: circuit breaker close/open position, isolating switch status, equipment fault alarms, oil level/temperature auxiliary contacts and cabinet door interlock signals. Built-in signal isolation & filtering suppress substation electromagnetic noise to accurately identify real-time equipment operating conditions.
  3. 6 Form-A Relay Digital Output (DO) Channels for Protection Trip & Interlock Control 6 independent normally-open relay contacts for two main applications:
  1. Protection trip output: Drives circuit breaker trip coils during line faults, motor overload or transformer overtemperature;
  2. Interlock control output: Triggers audible/visual alarms, cooling fans, oil pumps, solenoid valves and remote indicator lights. Each channel features electrical isolation; single-channel short-circuit faults will not disrupt other output loops.

Per-Channel Voltage & Current Monitoring (Exclusive Enhanced Feature of UR6PH) Integrated voltage & current metering for every output channel, real-time monitoring trip/control circuits for open circuits, voltage loss and poor contact. Provides early warning of secondary circuit defects to prevent protection trip failure.
  2. High-Speed SOE Sequence of Event Recording Millisecond-level time stamp logging for DI status changes, DO operations and protection trips with <1ms SOE resolution. Enables accurate fault sequence traceback after grid faults, complying with power dispatching fault root-cause analysis standards.
  3. IEC 61850 Substation Communication with GOOSE High-Speed Tripping 3 Ethernet ports support GOOSE peer-to-peer fast communication for cross-bay protection interlocking and cross-device trip logic. Compatible with SCADA, integrated substation automation systems and upper monitoring platforms for uploading all I/O status, fault and metering data.
  4. High-Speed Backplane Bus & Hot-Swap Maintenance Real-time data exchange with protection CPU via UR chassis internal Tri-Bus high-speed bus. Supports live hot-swap replacement without full panel power cut, minimizing power outage risks for substation maintenance.
  5. User-Programmable Custom Logic Customize I/O logic freely via EnerVista UR configuration software, including trip interlock, sequential equipment startup/shutdown, fault blocking and local/remote switching logic to meet differentiated control requirements of power plants and substations.
  6. Built-In Hardware Self-Diagnosis & Fault Alarms Continuous self-check of backplane communication, channel short/open circuits and power supply anomalies. Fault alarms are uploaded to protection relays and monitoring backends for rapid identification of module and secondary circuit defects.
