Introduction

Functions of TRICONEX 3805H Analog Output Module (Schneider Tricon Series)

  1. Output standard 4–20mA analog regulating signals to drive field modulating instruments As a dedicated analog output card for Schneider Tricon TMR triple modular redundant SIS safety instrumented systems, the 3805H receives control calculation commands sent by the MP3009X main processor and outputs industry-standard 4–20mA DC analog current signals. It controls continuous regulating equipment such as pneumatic control valves, valve positioners, variable frequency actuators and remote regulating mechanisms to realize safe closed-loop regulation and interlock control of process temperature, pressure, liquid level and flow rate.
  2. Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) fault-tolerant hardware architecture The module is equipped with three fully independent D/A conversion output circuits. The three channels output identical analog values synchronously and compare signals via hardware in real time. If one channel is damaged or the circuit suffers open/short faults, the other two channels keep outputting stable signals without signal jump or valve runaway, complying with SIL3 safety integrity level fault tolerance specifications.
  3. Real-time full-loop fault diagnosis It continuously monitors each 4–20mA output load loop, automatically detecting anomalies including broken wires, short circuits, abnormal loop impedance, faulty instrument loads and out-of-range signals. It generates fault alarms and Sequence of Events (SOE) logs, which are uploaded to HMI operator stations and engineering workstations synchronously for fast troubleshooting of circuits and field instruments.
  4. Electrical isolation & industrial anti-interference protection Built-in independent isolation circuits isolate ground loops and electromagnetic interference between the main control rack and field instruments, suppress field surges, back EMF and harmonic noise, and protect the CPU host and precise internal module circuits. It is applicable to high-risk industrial sites with strong electromagnetic interference such as chemical and oil & gas plants.
  5. Fail-Safe safety logic Designed based on safety instrumented fail-de-energized principles, all outputs will automatically switch to a pre-defined safe value (normally 0mA for full valve closure) in case of module hardware failure, severe signal mismatch among three channels or rack communication loss. It avoids hazardous process conditions including over-temperature, over-pressure and overfilling, and complies with international process safety standards IEC61508 and IEC61511.
  6. Online hot-swap maintenance without system shutdown The module supports independent hot-swap replacement while the system is running. All other analog output channels remain undisturbed during replacement, and the entire SIS safety interlock system operates continuously without full plant shutdown for maintenance.
  7. High-precision D/A conversion with stable control accuracy Adopting high-precision digital-to-analog conversion chips, the module delivers output signals with excellent linearity and low temperature drift error. It can output continuous regulating signals stably for a long time to guarantee the control precision of precise process regulating loops, suitable for high-demand safety processes such as hydrogenation, cracking and combustion control.
